Stunning Gold Strike! Awalé Records 20 g/t Over 29m at Charger Prospect – Odienné Project
The Awalé Resources recently hit a significant milestone in its exploration of the Charger Prospect that is part of the Odienné Project in Côte d’Ivoire. An extensive drilling programme returned significant intersects of gold at 20 grams per tonne (g/t) over 29m width. This is a notable achievement, as such a high-grade resource is an exciting discovery, adding considerable value to the company’s portfolio.
The Charger Prospect is located within Awalé’s Odienné Project, in north-west Côte d’Ivoire. Gold mineralisation has been confirmed across several targets in the project area, including the Charger, Empire Main, and Empire East prospects. The company has been carrying on aggressive exploration activities in these targets since acquiring the project’s rights.
The recently announced result is from Awalé’s infill Reverse Circulation (RC) and Diamond Drilling (DD) programme at the Charger Prospect. The company engaged an indigenous drilling contractor for the exploration services. The aim of the programme was to define the extent of the mineralisation, both at surface and at depth.
This significant find underscores the potential that the Charger Prospect holds for gold mining. The high-grade intersection of 20 g/t gold over 29m indicates an extraordinarily rich vein of gold deposits at a comparatively shallow depth. This is positive news for Awalé Resources, considering that high-grade deposits are more economically viable to exploit because they can produce a higher yield for the same volume of material extracted from lower grade ore bodies.
Worth noting is the precise location where the find was made. The drilling program was confined to a small area of the Charger prospect, suggesting that the potential for further exploration and discovery could be vast. The mission to augment the gold resource base through further drilling and exploration studies is a must to unearth the hidden mineral wealth of the Charger Prospect.
More favourable still is the fact that these results lie parallel to a regional shear zone, a structural feature known to be highly prospective for gold. The shallow depth of the detected gold during drilling suggests that the untapped resources beneath could be enormous, given the scale of the project and the extent of the geological feature upon which it is situated.
As Awalé Resources continues with its exploration activities at the Charger Prospect, it will have to conduct several feasibility studies and detailed mapping of the mineralized zones. A comprehensive understanding of the ore body’s structure and grade variability will be crucial in the next stages of planning the mining operation.
