An up-and-coming IndyCar star has emerged unscathed from a spectacular crash which destroyed a massive section of trackside catch fencing.
After a lap nine restart in the Indy Lights race at Road America, Christian Bogle was launched into the catch fencing after striking a kerb on the outside of the track.
The nose of the car was grabbed by the chain mesh, tearing down a large section of fencing and all of the support beams.
Bogle emerged unscathed from the wreck, which forced a lengthy delay.
The crash meant the remaining 11 laps would be run after the main IndyCar race.

In a statement later on Twitter, Bogle described the crash as “unusual”.
“The most important thing is I’m okay. Thank you to the AMR safety team for their quick response,” he said.
Images quickly emerged online from the scene, which showed multiple twisted support poles and torn mesh.
The race was eventually won by Dane Christian Rasmussen.
